Seriously? NSR? What a big fish from only the NSR! That's the first time I've ever heard a sturgeon caught in the NSR. Congatz

Hey guys, so its looks like lots of you have had success fishing for sturgeon. I have done it once before when I lived in Saskatchewan at the forks where the north and south sask rivers meet and my father and I landed a couple. The ones we got to shore weren't too big, but we did have one (well I assume as I never saw it) take our line and just run, emptied the entire spool. Nothing we could do. It was amazing and sad all at the same time, as I would have loved to bring it in. Granted we were only used 8lbs test, as we were up visiting relatives and were planning on fishing for walleye.

Anyway, to the point of this response, I was planning on visiting a couple friends in Edmonton in the upcoming weeks and was thinking of trying out the NSR for some sturgeon and was wondering if people usually head east or west of the city or is it best to find a place to access the river inside the city. Or even if anyone can help with finding parking and from there I can walk the banks in search of some deep holes. Any information would be greatly appriciated.

Keep those lines wet.

Seriously, if you have a big project that could use an extra set of hands, let me know; it's the least I could do...

Never a waste of time!

You can catch them in the Oldman River the Bow River and the South Sask. River. From Lethbridge to the Sask. boarder.I.m not sure how far up the Bow they go but Ive caught them as far up as Bow City.
