Default Another cabelas coming to Edmonton

Now I see why the Fishing hole abandoned the folks in the Northeast end of Edmonton....the competition is moving in.
At last the big boys are seeing the value of doing business somewhere else than the southwest.
Global news announced tonight that there will be a new Cabelas at the new Manning Town Centre complex off Manning Drive next spring.
They are moving in alongside another U.S. giant, Lowe's.

Woooo. I live 5 mins from there. The Lowes looks like its about to open? Did they give a time frame for Cabelas? I miss the fishing hole being on 97 st

I was thinking the other day BPS would have been smart to open a store there?

Its nice to go into the smaller business's and get treated right vs bigger places and get tread on like dirt. I personally dont like Cabellas. I'd rather go to whole sale or the fishing hole.

Yeah, I just picked up a Quantum CT20PTI (got a wicked deal because it was last years) reel from them along with a bunch of Simms gear. It's a beautiful store. I've spent hours there last week just browsing lol. It's still my go to store as the staff at fishin hole know how to help and know what they're talking about.

I like going to Cabela's for camping gear and to look around. Plus the gf loves the clothes.

Is it just me or does WSS have more selection for fishing that Cabelas?

Really? I love the Fishing Hole but Wholesale is the absolute worst for customer service. I'm a little partial to Cabela's though since my son works there.

The Edmonton Cabelas has been a disappointment for me too. Very seldom do I find what I am looking for there. Admittedly I am at a point in my fishing life that I have pretty much all the toys already (and then some) so I am usually looking for obscure disapoable (ie fly tying hooks, fishing wire, lines, terminal tackle etc.) That said, I find more of what I want at Wholesale and TFH,,, or online.

I have my doubts a second Cabela's store of the same merchandise will buy any more business from me. In fact, I'd hate to lose any more Fishin Holes or Wholesale stores from over saturation of the market place.

But for what it's worth, Wholesales has definately become much better since it's ownership takeover by UFA (that was a surprise to me),,, and no doubt the arrival of Bass Pro and Cabelas to Alberta has made them sharper as well.

fishin hole has made their money the past 30 years. If they were smart they would pack it in.. They have had a great run but all these businesses are bigger and more americanized.

Agreed I really do like them all. I'm sure t some point we've all had really good, and really bad experiences at all of them. At least I have. But variety is the spice of life and I love having options. Saved $100 on a Remington just by shopping around, I can appreciate the whole MA & PA thing. However I appreciate saving money even more.

I've never had any issues at Wholesale. Same with the Fish'n Hole. Got some great deals both places over the years. Would have loved to seen a Sail or Bass Pro open up in Edmonton to see more variety.

Iam glad to hear WSS in Edmonton has product. Not sure what is happening in Calgary but the store is just about empty these days. It would not surprise me it has a permanent closed sign on it one day. I have been told otherwise by management. But after 4 mos. of stock reduction without filling the store back up for summer, I really wonder. Would be sad to see as I have been loyal to them and fishing hole.
