Here is a pic of the sturgeon YoungBlood caught down at the river near Devon yesterday. We were fishing a deephole with pickrell rigs baited with worms. This is the 4th sturgeon we've caught in the 10+ yrs of fishing this particular spot on the river. We have noticed a trend though. All the sturgeon we've caught have been on HOT July evenings. Maybe not something to set your watch by, but somewhat of a trend none the less. The fight lasted close to a half hour, giving me enough time to rip home and grab my camera. The fish was also tagged. That info will be passed along to FW, and we will hopefully get some data regarding the fish's history. We estimated it's weight to be in the 30-40 lb range. A real beautiful specimen........
I'de love to divulge the hole this beauty was pulled from, but would prefer not to have half the board lining the shore with me. Thanks for understanding.
