Default Squid Pattern?

People I need a little help. I'm taking my wife fly fishing in the Keys in a week or two and I want her to catch something. I saw a T.V. show recently that had 2 guys just yarding them in on what looked like a plastic squid with lead eyes.

The lure fished head down on the bottom of a shallow bay with the "tentacles" floating up and waving in the current. It was working great and I thought that if the fly wasn't too heavy a rookie could cast it.

If anyone has suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. We will start tying them this weekend.

I'm thinking Islamorada but am open to suggestions too. We're getting off a cruise and have a few days before we come home and I'm dying to wet a line down there. We'll go with a guide for the first day and then on our own.

I came across this squid pattern on Phil Rowley's website

Looks like a reasonably easy tie.

Smile Thank you

Cool web site, shows the procedure step by step.

I bought some of those plastic brown squid for the spinning outfit. I'm not just sure how to rig them as I want the squid to sit up right in the water.
