Default Ice Fishing Spots

Hey all,

I know it’s a tough ask but any chance somebody would be kind enough to PM me a good ice fishing spot west of Edmonton and some lure recommendations?

I’ve never fished before, have no idea what I’m doing, but my 6 year old is nuts for it after catching a few this summer. Great family past time so I’d like to get us in to it, so we are going to head out this weekend. I’d love any tips to help us (him) not get skunked!

Many thanks!!!

What i recommend is for you to find a friend that can take you and your children fishing, gain some knowledge on proper fishing techniques and proper fish handling methods. Proper lures for different species ect.

That’d be ideal but unfortunately not in the cards...

Don’t worry, we won’t be crashing your favourite spot, probably only get out a couple times a year as our weekends are usually spent at the rink!

head to wabamun. jig and minnow will catch you pike, whites, and walleye. Its a safe bet with kids, and if you fish close to the main launch in town there is playground on shore if they get bored.

Looks like Wab it is.

Is winter fishing same as summer fishing? We had some luck off the dock at the PP and under the train bridge.

And can I ask how far to keep the minnow off of the bottom or is that a secret!

Many thanks again

Is it frowned upon to just follow someone’s tracks and set up at their old hole?

Do you guys stake your claim and hit the same spots?

Do you just want to cancel your fake account now, or, wait for the ban?

Lots use old holes. Try 1-3 feet off bottom. If no bites change it up. Good luck! Another option is to find a stocked trout pond up there.

Yikes, didn’t expect hate mail.

Thanks for the few helpful tips though.

Honestly, I’ve never fished as a kid - or adult, and was just trying to get a few tips to make the experience better for my 6 and 3 year old kids.
