Default Remington M700 Manufacture Date

I just picked up a used M700 BDL in .35Whelen.

It's well worn but that's not a concern to me, no need to worry about a few marks.

I'd like to figure out the year of manufacture.

2 letter code on the barrel is KJ, serial number starts with C.

I think the K means May and the J 1989? Can anybody help with that?

Looks like you’re right. Made in May of 1989.

Nice Whelen.

Looks like a BDL or Classic barreled action in a CDL stock.

The factory CDL Whelens are 24" without sights.
