Default Spruce Meadows Pond questions

Is Spruce Meadows Pond in Calgary a private pond?

Public access on Private land?

Provincial regulations?

Thanks

I would say private water, but public access. Not stocked by the government. I believe their private regulations are on signs at the pond.

Was just there two days ago. The only regs are: barbless hooks, catch and release and no wading. I have no clue how big it is, but it is quite small (Maybe 100 M across).

Very small indeed.

go here:
http://www.sprucemeadows.com/experience/

on the right hand of the page near the middle, you'll see tabs that say Year Round, Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter

Click on Spring/Summer

You should see five small pictures with captions underneath. Click on FISHING.

The picture you see is the stocked pond. It's about twice as long as the picture shows, but this picture shows the pond's widest point.

It doesnt winterkill. There are some old fish in there. I had some good times catching trout there last year. I talked to a security guard there one day and he told me that they stock it bi-annually and that there are some fish in there that people catch sometimes that are pretty big. I have caught everything from 8 inch to 14 inch fish but nothing bigger.

I used the pond to practice my dry fly presentation and roll casting. Nice little spot for the kids.
