I try to talk to as many people as I can when i'm out and about either here or in the mountains. It stuns me to no end when I hear people say they hate bulls, when they catch one it ends up in the bushes. Ask them if they know it's a native species and they are protected - they don't care.

Some people are farked.

People will throw the bulls into the bush? Unbelievable.
Too return the favor they would be thrown into the river, Did you also ask them if they hated our national animal or our canadian flag?
People these days...Need to realize that to make fish grow big their needs to be an amount of predators to weed out the small ones so theres more food to around and get bigger and if they dont beilve you look at your local stocked ponds that get stocked with huge amounts of fish and go look at the lakes that hasnt been stocked with many fish like ironside- Huge difference in sizes to say the least.

yep, between people wasting them to the bushes and others that can't handle the bloody fish properly, it's no wonder they can't thrive.

I haven't caught one yet, this summer tho

I love catching them I don't get why people hate them so much it's pretty simple to avoid catching them usually. Unless your a spin fisherman it might be Abit harder but for fly fisherman it's real easy to avoid them.

Good read. Wasn't really surprised that Dams are the major reason for Bull Trout decline.
Was quite shocked to see OHV singled out as causing problems. I thought all those OHV riders were true blue OUTDOORSMEN and would never do anything that jeopardized wildlife. Got a kick outta the fact that predators were not mentioned.
Really enjoyed the fact that the primary spawning stream for Bull Trout on the N. Sask missed mention.
And from my angling records over the past 40 years, I'm now catching Bull Trout regularly in the lower end of the Clearwater River. This fact, of course, is not reflected in the data.
Other than the obvious errors and the complete lack of ability to do anything about fixing the problem, its a fine report to be filed with all the other fine reports

x2

It is unfortunate, but I have to agree with you Don.

I think we will see our grayling study that is currently underway also being placed on the back shelf after it is done.
