Default Great day on the Bow

I decided since the sun was shining, Id try and find a sheltered spot to fish out of the wind. Guess I picked a good one, ended up with 16 suckers, 3 different kinds of them, up to about 9 pounds, which are awesome in heavy current!!! 1 chubb, 1 walleye, which Im going to post in a different thread, one clam, and my first and second sturgeon!
just babies, but Id rather start small and work my way up. biggest was a couple pounds and 25 inches long. Had a lot of bites, got mobbed by pelicans, stayed out of the wind, got a burn, and going to do it all over again in the morning!

Beautiful morning

you can see the resemblance to chubb in the chub, mostly in the face...

thanks guys, it was so awesome, bringing in the fish and seeing what it was, I dont care if the sturg were small, its such a rush seeing a dinosaur on the end of your line, especially for the first time, made my whole month. of course, now I want grandma sturgeon that is really great to see that they are reproducing in the rivers as well!

baby steps, tomorrow I will be happy doubling again, this time i want a 4 footer and a 6 footer actually its such a rush seeing one of these I dont care if all I get from now on is little ones, its just incredible seeing fish that have been around since cave men were only a gleam in their daddy' eyes come out of the water on the end of your line. its truly awesome catching these, especially half an hour from home

the ones in the sink are now in the freezer for next December, got a return date with a couple pike from last year. didnt make it back down today, have to save it for next weekend . I wouldnt eat anything out of the river, no matter what kind of fish it was the chubs really do look like squawfish

Congrats Wayne....bout timeJK!! Got internet in camp now....yaaaaaaaay!! Gotta live vicariously through the forum till I can get back to me fishing. Hopefully in a couple weeks when I'm back in town we can hook up for some more sturgys, maybe somethin a lil bigger

Dago - U probably already left for your trip but wanted to let ya know, I was at Beaver Mines for a couple days a couple weeks ago....not a bite! Not sure what's going on with that lake these days. However, down the road at Beuvais Lake (sp?) the lil rinbows Were biting and one shore angler had herself a very nice brown trout, bout 16" roughly. Very healthy looking too, I believe she wrangled it on marshmallows. We were just cchecking the lake out and never fished long but would have liked too. GL on your trip and have fun!! Beutiful country around there.
Cheers
