which release?
Going to get back into shooting a bow again and maybe hunting with it next year. What brand and model of release do you archers out there use? So many on the market these days.

Go with a Scott Mongoose. I have been using the Scott Wolverine and had some issues in real cold weather. Never had an Problem with a Mongoose

If you are looking for a trigger release for hunting look at the carter quickie. I use one for hunting and really like it.

truball "t" handle with thumb trigger, tried the truball wrist strap and a couple scott models but the t handle is great, clip it on your bow then hang your bow beside you or lay on your lap and you never have to worry about fumbling to get your release on the loop

Of all the releases I have used they were the most reliable and comfortable.

X7 for Scott
I have the dual caliper Scott Shark, very light trigger that breaks like glass. Buy a quality release and accuracy will follow.

I've been shooting Scott single caliper releases for 8 years. And I will never shoot anything else. I had a mongoose for 7 years, now I shoot the wildcat. I wish I hadn't sold my mongoose....the wildcat is awesome, but the mongoose had a little rubber stopper that cut out a lot of noise! That's the only thing my wildcat is missing!

TruBall all the way! Better way of oing the trigger. Pull the trigger to open the jaws, let off to close. Scott's you have to physically push the trigger forward to close the jaws. I'm no longer shooting a wrist strap release, but if I was, it would be a TruBall.

Fletchunter release by Jim Fletcher... tried most out there and always return to the fletchunter...super smooth and tuff...bought three in the last almost 30 years..still have two of the originals ...lost one..still hunt with them...shot two trriple hoods with one in the last couple years... so its accurate enough for paper and tuff enough for hunting fail proof...
maintainance ...wash it in a mud puddle once a year wheater it needs it or not...lol ..JKin but close ..have done it

Release
Just finished a sheep hunt in Canmore. I used a Scott release and it did freeze a couple of times. Its interesting that the Scott mongoose does not freeze. Other than that top notch.

Thanks for all the replies. Not sure there is a right or wrong answer. Its just what fits you the best. I see the bow shop[ I am dealing with has Scott relieses so will probably go with one of there models. Although some bow packages come with the whole 9 yards.
