Default Salvage permit

Wondering if anyone has gotten a salvage permit for fish trapped in the canals after they are shut down? Tried to get a price from Brooks F and W today, couldnt get an answer other than with a permit you can keep 20 fish.Fish are going to be dead pretty quick anyways, I guess its better to let them go to waste than salvage them for food. Typical government BS. The locals used to fill trucks with them using pitchforks rather than let them go to waste.
Another question, spearfishing is allowed, but the fisherman must be swimming. so would standing on ice be considered the same as treading water????

It's a great deal, more work than lots of guys realize. Our spot the whites average 5 pounds, got a ton of walleyes this year too, one not far off 30''. There are special rules for gear you can use (net restrictions) but not too hard to work with. Definetly lots that freeze.

Drill two holes and keep one foot in the water and have swim trunks on under snow suit. When the F&W come to check just tell them you just got out of the water. Dab a little water on your hair to make believable.

Im thinking I will have to pick up a net for next fall, 20 5 pound whites times 2 of us would make a whole lotta canned and smoked fish, would make a pretty big dent in the meat bill for the year. And they are going to die anyways so Im not detracting from the lake by killing them. Im not sure what the water in there is going to do , its crusted over again, but the weather is up and down this week, it could very well freeze to the bottom and then I could fish with an ice pick
if it doesnt freeze solid, I should be able to either break a hole or go out and drill a few with the hand auger and see if they still have their appetite. I cant take the time off work to get a permit and not much point without a net.

I could probably work out a deal with someone who has a net, its not something you use everyday so why not split the cost or something, still very cheap meat.
