I purchased a Humminbird 196c. It's a portable ice fishing unit, that I use for both for ice fishing and my kayak. I just take the battery out of the portable bag along with the display screen. I purchased the ice fishing transducer which works perfectly in the scupper hole in my Predator 13.

I have an older lowrance Mark 5x that's always served me well. Perfect for a small boat or fly in trips. There must be some nice ones now days.

this is the simulation mode from the deeper fish finder I have, it has the standard mode(I have the sonar turned on, you can see it on the right hand side) as well as the actual sonar mode for ice fishing, and the boat mode where you can map the lake you are at. For $300 its a little steep for a portable unit but does everything the $1000 fish finders do. it is the size of a baseball and works on your phone, which you always have with you anyways. only downfall that I see is the battery life on your phone is gone. might have to buy a little coleman solar charger or something

The Deeper Pro is on my wish list. Having read reviews, and watched videos, it seems to be quite versatile in its uses, and very portable. Also, I have the iPhone and iPad to use as displays. Would love to see one though before I buy one. Does anyone in Edmonton sell them?

Great machines but battery life in the toys is the shortfall.

Lowrance makes a dedicated "kayak pack" kit that works with a variety of their sonar units from the Hook2 4 all the way up to the Elite 7 TI.

I had the FS10T for a year, I really enjoyed fishing from it!

I RAM mounted my Humminbird 385c unit just in front of the dry storage and used one of the Bass Pro Shops portable battery packs... It has a 5ah battery inside, and I can use it to charge my phone or camera when I'm out, it comes in a pelican like case that supposedly can be submerged in water...

I also run that same unit in a Humminbird portable pack for ice fishing. If you find an old portable pack or one for cheap they are fairly universal.

I used the Scotty transducer mount off the side and it worked great, down the Bow River last summer I hit numerous rocks with it, it's extremely durable, I thought about the RailBlaza stuff but it just felt cheaper than the Scotty.

Is this your first kayak?

I have a deeper. Battery life limited my phone and the deeper if fishing half a day from a kayak. I ended up putting a lowrance hook4 on my hobie with a 6 volt gel battery. Goes all day no problem.
