Tork, nice looking corner with the woodstove.

Lots of nice fur there every one. Love the pics, keep posting.

One of my favorite sights, gets a smile every time.
Even the coyote got a smile, but no pic.

Two weeks to go, hoping to get the quota filled.

Default First fox

Got my trappers licence a few weeks ago and put out a couple leg traps and some snares, got 2 foxes in the leg traps and one coyote in a snare so far, don't have pics of the other 2 but am having a lot of fun, wish I wrote the test sooner now haha

This was a scent post/blind set, made for coyotes but got him instead

Also, had a coyote break the lightning lock on a senneker kill snare I put out. It had a 235lb breakaway on it bit the snare lock broke instead, also had a big tuft of coyote hair stuck in it, anyone else having those break on them?

Thanx for all the posts and photos guys .. I have been unable to set my snares this year as my neighbour refuses to tie up his wide ranging dog .. Just know he'd be wearing a snare and Yours Truly would be the badguy .. Going after some problem beaver next week in the local golf course , should be fun .

I'd be telling my neighbour that there are coyote snares on my land and I suggest you keep your dog off it. Don't let him dictate what you do. Just how I would deal with it. I know people that would shoot a stray dog if it was on their property. Good luck with the beavers

i agree, people need to learn to keep their animals under control. my first catch in the snares i put out was a farm dog, he didnt die and sure was happy to see me, but that being said the nearest farmhouse that has dogs was about 3/4 mile away, so i dont feel bad about it. keep your animals on your property and they wont get hurt.

i read an article about a bunch of people crying about their dogs getting shot by a rancher, dogs were on his property chasing his livestock around. i say boo-hoo... tie up your dog.

Well today was the end of our winter trapping season for long hair. Going to hit the lakes for rats now. Did not bad for marten & fisher off our little line. The lynx were the same as last year but the coyotes were less than half of last year. Had 3 good coyotes of the last ten caught, all the rest had mange or shoulder mites. Hope everyone is having a good time in the bush. Stay safe. Will post some pictures and totals soon.

Wish it was that simple mark , the neighbour is a relative and won't lock him up .. dog ate the bottom off the garage door last time they did .. If the dog gets in with our cows and calves in the next month something is gonna happen for sure ... Too late for yotes now , all rubbed . looks like a lot of beaver to catch tho .

Good luck with the beaver. I have 1 active hut on our line not sure if I'm going to bother with it. Lots of ice to cut through!

Default Trapline!

Here are a few pics of the trappin i have been doing so far this year. I am signed up as a jr partner on a line where i work(2 weeks on/2 weeks off). I do it as a hobby when i have time after work, and a day or two before and after. So far this year i have collected 8 Marten, 5 weasels, 3 squirrels, 1 Fisher, a coyote, and a cat. (not alot of fur, but i had a blast doing it)
The best news is....i just bought myself a Trapline last week. It is within a half hour from home...Not a huge line, but being close to home makes it great!!!! I have wanted a line for a lot of years. My bro(Rocks) had a line on the Kakwa in the mid 90's, and i have been looking for my own since. Hope you enjoy my pics...

Toe

Hey Tork,
I trap south of Debolt on the trunk road while i am at work, and my new line is up in the Maclennan area...I live outside of High Prairie, so it will be awesome to only be 30 minutes from the line!!

Good for you. It took me a lot of years to find mine in the saddle hills, 45 minutes from the house sure is nice

Is the line you bought the one that was on kijiji a little while back ?

I dont believe the ol feller had it on Kijiji. He had it listed in the local papers. I think he wanted to sell it locally. Made the deal last week, should be good to go in the next week or so. I thought it was going to take a bit, i was approved right away, it has been quick, providing that the paperwork comes back quick from Edmonton. They told me 2 weeks max.!

Just picked up lynx #6!!! 4 days to go.

Tally so far

13 marten
6 lynx
2 wolves
6 weasel.

Not bad for second season and having to shut down over half the line due to logging. Now off to the man cave to do some skinning

Default Lynx set

Hi 357,

When you make your Lynx sets, you use no cubby, just bait in tree with snares around the same tree ????

Thanks,
Gabby.

U got er, sounds very simple eh? It is and has worked very well for us. Usally just make a little trail about 10' farther into the trees so Mr Lynx thinks he is headin down a trail. They seem to like like to circle the tree, rub head against, etc. Hang up a chunk a meat on the tree with some lure and ure ready to roll. Last check of season comin up tomorrow!
