Was in the mountains years ago...middle no where when a car passed me ...open bowcase on roof...so i turned around and came up behind with headights flashing...I could see he could see me but wouldnt stop...dunno what he was thinking so stepped on it and pulled up beside him pointing and screaming "your bow case and bow are on roof"....
he slammed on the brakes.... ......in the rear view I could see the case bouncing off hood...kit flying all over
I drove on and went a mile down the road ...hopefully letting him settle down and turned around and came back...met him again this time he waved and smiled so all must have worked out without damage...
Another time saw rifle hunters walking down road...stopped and asked if they were hunting bow they said no moose...told them its a bow zone for two more months..only bear open...they freaked so I opened tail gate and gave them a ride several miles to their truck...they thanked me and I drove off...
I stopped for lunch by a creek and was going to do some fishing, went to the back of my pickup and there was a shiny new rifle...took most of the day to find these guys as they went home and came back only when they realized...pure luck we met up again on that road...
the bows lost on highways seems to happen a lot to those in cars...guess it stands to reason as bows would normally sit at least in back of pickup...so on a car the roof seems a natural place to set cases and bows...
