What to do in Kelowna
Well we are off to Kelowna for my sisters wedding in a while. We have a hous rented on the east side of town just a couple blocks away from the lake. We are a family of 6 with kids from 7-13 years old. I have heard they have some pretty wicked go-karts there so we will check those out. Anything else we should be looking to do? What beaches would you reccomend for family friendly.
Thanks for any tips you can share!

Malibu grand prix is fun, but expensive...but fun...lol..I have heard there is a great new waterpark in Kelowna with Canada's first..and maybe only flowrider...the park is indoors so might be good for a cloudy/rainy day.

It has been many years since I have been to Kelowna beaches. But I have been to the beach at Peachland and I recommend it if you are okay for a bit of a drive. Not sure which side of the bridge you are on but if it is the downtown side you need to time your crossings. The bridge can be a nightmare. But the Peachland beach is not as crowded as Kelowna ones. Not as sandy either, but there is a decent diving board area and a quaint shopping area for ice cream and such. I also highly recommend the Gasthaus for lunch or dinner. Nice open air restaurant.

Im not sure what part of town it is but you go across a bridge mide way through town and on the far side is an awesome mini golf course....grass green and fairways and a "normal" astroturf course too fairly reasonably priced.

Kelowna to do
Send a card to your sister, drop the family off at the beach, take your flyrod and tube and head for the high mountain lakes!

Gyro was a great beach when I was a kid. It seemed like you could walk forever and never get over your head there. Something that I remember from my childhood. Good times.

You could head up to Vernon for the day and go to the waterslide park they have there. We went there last summer & the kids really enjoyed it!

Coyote Rafting
This is so cool, I took my daughter 15 years ago maybe more now she is taking her kids. There is a canal between the two lakes, the water flows slowly from North to south. You can bring your own floaters or you can get a tractor tube for the company, they pump them up and everything, you float down the "river" at your own speed , there are lots of other people doing it too, and they(the company) pick you up in an old school bus.
The kid driving the bus at the time cranked the music (Paradise city) and the passengers loved it. I think you can float down as often as you like.
As far as the Dad's are concerned the last day I went with my daughter the river was stocked with scantily clad young women. So there is something for all ages.

I'll second the wine tour. If you have a designated driver, do it yourself. Go from Kelowna to Penticton then a little further south to Oliver. Lots of small operations with very good wines (some big ones too).
Also, there are alot of great golf courses in the area. Go a little off the beaten path for some hidden gems....

Kal Lake = Lake Kalamalka between Kelowna and Vernon. As you come through Vernon it's the first lake you see on your left. Kal is considered one of the Top ten most beautiful lakes in the world. Look for Oyama road,it runs between Kal and Wood lakes. Turn left on Trask road and you will find Kaloya park. I spend a lot of time on Kal every summer.

I think you are thinking of penticton, which is about sn hour from kelowna! My aunt and uncle own a big bed and breakfast in penticton! I've never been there but have seen pictures and it's gorgeous! They are up on the hill above skaha lake!

Sounds very nice!
When I was 16-17 my dad took us to Kalamalka for a couple summers. Played on the beach an in the water with his boat knee-boarding, water skiing... Those were some real fun summers. I need to find a place I can rent a cabin close to the water there and do the same thing with my family.
