Sad news, he would be someone I would have sat around a table with for hours just asking about and listening to his stories on how they grew up, trapped to keep the family going and so much more. Happy Trails Keg.

Oh man, that hits hard. Such a good man.

I was getting concerned when our communications slowed down.

My condolences to Patti and the rest of the family.

I'll see you when I get there, Sir. Until then, Rest in Peace.

In his pictures, he was able to show the beauty in the little things that we usually overlook, or take for granted. Definitely a skill.

Speaking of which..

That's strange. The "northern Alberta funerals" site did not work when I originally tried it. That's why I suggested the "necro Canada.com". Now the 'Northern Alta" site works. Huh.

Never met Keg but respected his opinions. Understood he dedicated his time to keeping 35, 695 and other routes safe and sound for us to travel on. Thanks Keg!

Default Condolences to the Family

I enjoyed his comments and found him to be a very interesting person in the way he approached many of the issues he weighed in on. I wish his family well in this time of greiving.

That’s sad to hear, condolences to his friends & family. I hadn’t met him but he was kind enough to have sent out some camera mounts when I had posted about some vandalism issues about 6 years back, those kind of unprompted kind gestures say a lot about a person, we lost a good one.

I think people tend to post in forums like this and think it's a little bit like shouting into the void. Names have been changed, identities feel hidden... but... they're not.

I'm one of Keg's kids.

I just wanted to pop on here to say that your comments and condolences have reached his family.

Through this forum I've been able to glimpse parts of my dad I didn't have the privilege of seeing in life. I've also been able to sit with him... in a way.

If you're on a forum like this and your family doesn't know, please let them know... even if just to put it in your will so they find it after you're gone. You have no idea how much it will/would mean to them.

Be kind to each other.

God bless.

My condolences. From an ex Manning boy. Your dad brought Me logs on a truck.

Jim was a great fixture on this site. He played an excellent role in his humbleness. I will miss his great stories from his days growing up on the trapline making it work with less than most of us will ever know. His useful insight on all things hunting/trapping will be sorely missed. RIP KegRiver. This place will always have been better with him around.

Just got off the phone with Patti. What a great and tough lady. Trying to help her with a few things. She loves to talk and the support coming from the group. She's trying to figure out Jim's password for the forum so she can interact.

Default Keg River's Wife finally here................

It took me a while but finally I got me new password so I could let youse guys know about Keg.

Keg went into the Hospital with Pneumonia in early January. Through that stay his Doctor obviously suspected more issues so they flew him to Grande Prairie for an MRI.

The results of that test were advanced Bone Cancer. Keg died peacefully on January 30, 2024.

I was not at the hospital when Keg died, they phoned me. I planned to go that day but had not gotten there yet BUT he had gotten so thin I don't think any of you who have met him would have recognized him.

Keg is in Heaven with Jesus now and he has no more pain.

Now it up to all of us here to remember him fondly and man I miss him like the dickens.
