Lake Minnewanka
Does anyone on here have experience fishing this lake? Wonder what the campsites are like down the lake for docking a boat. Do they allow you to camp right on shore? I'm planning a fishing trip there for Aug 4,5,6 hoping to camp on the east end but don't want my boat beat up for mouring it on shore.

Only boat I have ever seen moured down that way was an inflatable.
Might not hurt to check with the park warden it is a rocky beach but you should be able to pull it far enough out of the water, not a lot of trees close that you could tie on to.

The shoreline of that lake is pretty rocky - large sharp rocks as the water has been low. parking your boat overnight with any waves or wind could cause some extensive damage to your boat. That would be my concern.

we used to pull the boat up on a log, that was placed under the front of the boat to keep it off the rocks. if the wind comes up over night put the cover on, the boat will be full of water in the morning and battery no good.

So i think we are going to attempt to stay at LM31 on the lake. I heard the beach is bit tame from what I have been told. And use the logs like Fish99 did to stabilize the boat. Cant wait to try this lake out.

Minnewanka is beautiful. There's a campground on 2 jack that is nice.
Tried fishing in a float tube once - and only once. Nice and calm for the first 20 minutes, then all heck broke loose in what seemed like seconds - near got blown out to sea so to speak.

We are staying the first night at Two Jacks Main, Hitting the lake early in the morning and heading to the east end. Fish the morning and into the afternoon and then setting up camp and the figuring a way to beach the boat. Fish the evening, next morning and heading home.

Fishing kayaks can take some wild weather(though not too much fun to fish when it's too crazy). As long as there is a beach within a km or 2 of the normal summer fishing area so a guy could bail out safely when the wind picks up.
Cold water, surprise wind and no real cold water safety gear makes a guy cautious.
