Default Tree Stand

I have my spots picked out where I want to hang them, is it too early to do so? If yes why? Thanks in advance!

There's no reason to wait in my opinion. I have a few I leave up year round.

Get them up now. Its better actually. lets the animals get used to thier presence and your not mucking around in the closer to season. Remember to take into account coverage when the trees have no leaves

Why not? Good excuse to get out. Will also give lots of time to let animals get used to it. I put mine up at least 1 month ahead of time

I use some custom aluminum ones I built.

I also have a Viper Summit, I like it under some situations. I can carry it in and go tree to tree if need be. I also will ratchet strap it to a tree and install a ladder and its not a permanent.

Thanks all..I guess I know what I am doing on Thursday!

I have a couple of Leverage cast aluminium stands, I think they weigh about 15lb and come with straps that are long enough that you can put your pack on first and then the stand. My only complaint is the platform is a little slippery compared to the wire mesh ones, but I think some varathane and a handful of sprinkled sand will solve it.

Always. Never know when wind will pick up, or when I might fall asleep, or slip, or...

Better safe than sorry!

Same here! One small misstep can be deadly.

Planning on using the climber and the hunter safety systems rope above that with a harness.

A good friend is in a wheel chair today because of a treestand fall. Many good reasons to wear one and the cost is negligible.

Yep. You can use a specialty harness for treestands but myself, I use my rock climbing harness. That way after your steps are set up you can anchor to the tree, sit in your harness and set up your stand with both hands free.
