Watched a fisherman drive right across lac la biche today unreal! There's a foot of ice in some places but I ain't that crazy

a local guy thought the same last winter around Brooks, ice was 12 inches where he drove on. truck became a submarine. 12 inches is nuts. it isnt always the same thickness all over any lake in Alberta, why risk going through and maybe dying, walk!

Cold lak wont be fishable until after xmas, most likely not into the new year. Its still open and usually doesnt freeze over until around xmas.

anyone heard anything about any lakes around medicine hat, I'm guessing this weather isn't helping down here but I'm wondering about 40 mile, grassy lake, chin lake, rattlesnake, michele res, newell.... was thinking about taking a look at rattlesnake today but id imagine theres not enough ice yet.

PCR this morning at southside boat launch- 4 inches out to 20m from shore and 6 inches in a couple of places.
caught a couple of burbot and a walleye and the guys beside us caught four burbot and a walleye

5 and an eye lol to be exact. Was nice seeing you two there this morning. I'd say the lake is pretty consistant at around 4"... a few spots thinner, probably plenty thicker

for reference...Lake Sundance in Calgary has 8 inches (7 clear and 1 white) within 40 feet of shore.
This lake does have variable ice conditions so it will be interesting to see what the over all thickness is.
Any other lake communities in Calgary with ice reports?

I heading to PCR for the first time. Is the ice still looking good? Wasn't sure what the weather has been like down there. Where's the best spot for a newcomer to wet a line? At the Bridge or by the dock in the south?
