Anyone got pics of the truck? Must of been a pretty lazy guy. What's more embarrassing? Walking onto the lake aways to catch a few fish or driving on a fairly short distance to have your teuck go through the ice and having to walk off the lake without your truck? Ahh well I guess each to therw own

8 inches of ice on lake Sundance in Calgary now. Once we hit 12 we can start ice fishing.

Each lake has their own rules. Bonavista opened yesterday and I'm heading out in an hour

It's not thick enough for the zamboni yet on our lake yet but they still open it up for skating and walk on fishing.

Was out there yesterday and was 9" on east side where I fished. Very slow fishing.

I'll be heading out there sometime next week. North side. Was there Monday and it was very slow.

Went out to Wilson's beach today. Ice was 5 to 6 inch. Fished for about 3 hours and saw nothing. 1 jeep and a small suv on ice, why are people so lazy and stupid

Must be just an individual lake rule. I was fishing auburn bay today with about 8" of ice. It opened to foot traffic a few days ago. Landed 6 in about 5 hours of fishing. Had tons of bites though that we missed (gotta work on my timing, lol).

My buddy lives in Mahogany and it has the same rule as Sundance. Minimum 12" of ice before they allow people on the lake.

We've had weird holes form in previous years. Hence opening ice fishing later.

Last weekend i measured it at 8.5-9" thick in front of Mariana boat launch. Curious if it is much thicker know with the cold weather we have been getting a night.

Yesterday, walked out at boat launch 100 yards. Was 13-14" . Drilled about 6 holes. All about the same. Only got a small pike.

Could be just from the cold snap. It was around minus 25 or colder with the wind chill. Very strong winds.

Looks like some cold weather coming for at least four or five days. With the lack of snow cover on many lakes things should be shaping up good for the holidays. Mind you by the ice reports the ice looks pretty good everywhere.

Last time I tried to get on the lake, there was still construction. Where did you access if you don't mind me asking? I know WID had signs up asking for for access only...but it was really unclear if they were allowing the public on the lake at all.

Default Re: Dalemead Reservoir Access

I parked off 22X on the southwest side of Dalemead Reservoir. There's an approach and some flat ground. I hiked the half mile across the lake to the inlet pulling my sled. There's a sign at the approach saying Foot Access Only. No visible construction.

It looks like there is truck access near the inlet on the west side near some of the farmhouses. Some guys were coming in on quads and snowmobiles.

Interesting. 0-6" of snow + 1" of frozen flood water + 2" flood water + 6" of good lake ice for as far as I could walk out on Pigeon yesterday.

With the unseasonably warm weather we had to start out I would error on the side of caution out anywhere in the Edm region.
