The Canadian teams were spoiled in a soft division all season, now Montreal has to play the better teams in the NHL.

The Habs/Knights game last night reminded me of a cat catching a mouse and playing with before it kills it. If Habs don't adjust, out in 4.

Montreal played two teams that had a very strong top line and a decent second line.

Vegas, on the other hand, has three very good lines so it's tougher to shut them down the same way and their fourth line is big and heavy and mean.

I'm a Habs fan but I predicted (and stand by it) that they will probably not make it past Vegas. Price could steal the show but they looked a little rusty last night, after the first period.

They need to come out strong and not let up the entire series, which is tough to do. Being off for a week didn't help but I expect them to be doing better the second game.

Montreal played well in the first period, then quit. The better team wan last night. VEG has a top notch defensive unit.

Hope Petry and Evans get back soon...

Vegas sure know how to put on a show!

If you ever get a chance go see a game in Vegas live....we went a few years back to watch Calgary and Vancouver play them....what a show outside the arena and in...could only imagine it now that they are in the playoffs.

A buddy of mine went there 2-3 years ago to watch Edmonton.

He told me when the front doors opened, a marching band strutted out, and led the fans into the building.

He has been in many Canadian hockey venues, but Vegas, according to him, is #1.

Maybe Montreal was intimidated by the full capacity crowd. They are not used to that at this time...

The hab's are in tough against Vegas with a full crowd or an empty arena, Vegas has 3 really good lines and a 4th line that is not to shabby either.

Price is going to have to steal a game or two or they are not going far, if they only manage 1 goal a game it will be a short series.

stay out of the penalty box and defend in their end against east/west passes too....might have a chance.

And win some draws. 2 goals were defensive zone faceoffs.

They did win 12% more draws. Possibly not the right ones.
I think they’re just outmatched this round. But, a goalie can overcome that and win a series.

Vegas is solid all the way top to bottom no doubt and heavy favorite for a reason. Habs had a strong first.
2 things I saw

stay out of the **&^^%$ box
You could see Montreal was not used to playing from behind...... 460 some minutes never trailing was second best all time
The week off is nice but not when you are rolling.

Need a big win on wednesday.

The hab's played a perfect road game last night, score first, stay out of the box and clog up the center ice area, play boring hockey and keep the home crowd quiet, will see what happens when they get back home with their 3500 fans, the series is on now folks.

They did against Toronto and Winnipeg.

As long as they stay out of the box, they have a chance.

Petry is back and looks healthy.

And yes, Price has to continue being dominant.

And OH my Lord Fluery gave that one away............ wow what a blunder on the tying goal

Good on the Habs for hanging around while being outplayed for most of the game, they just keep finding ways to win

SOG...who cares.

Habs got some questionable penalties, and questionable non calls. (ie. High stick on Perry).

But they still found a way to win this one, and up 2-1...

Suzuki and Caufield are sure fun to watch.

There was a bad freebie for each team yesterday.

Not sure how Montreal is not down 3-0.

It’s a real Cinderella story.

I just keep thinking Montreal has to trip soon as their play is way too good and their slipper is bigger than their feet.

But hey...I want a Canadian team to win just to annoy Betman.

Just wondering where all the noted site hockey prognosticators claiming the North Division was the weakest of the bunch, ( in efforts to diminish the Oilers season of course), have gone?

"Just wait until the North Div representative runs up against the Avs, Knights, Boston," etc, etc, ad nauseum.

Could still be busy with the golf season that started 3 weeks before the reg. season ended I guess.

I'm as surprised as anyone else that the Habs won the division and are doing well vs the Knights but it just shows all bets are off come playoff time.

Just have to review the Oilers playoff success to see how dismal their season was.

If the Oilers season was dismal what would you call the Flames version? Epic Fail? Abysmal? Putrid?

You apparently forgot about being a speck in the rearview mirror
