Default Replacement double bit axe handle

I have a old double bit axe , 40 years old or so. Having a hard time finding a proper replacement handle for it. Edmonton area. I really would like to save this axe as it was fantastic for splitting. Any ideas where I might find one in Edmonton. Lee valley, Canadian tire and those places don't have one that fits the axe.

A double bit axe is one that has two faces and the handle is str8 . Very skinny opening for the handle to fit in the head.

It is not a felling axe which is one that only has one cutting face and a slightly curved handle.

Any Ideas who might carry them ?

I had a difficult time looking up a double bit handle about 4 years back and lucked out finding a Lee Valley staffer who knew of some secret non-regular-inventory stash that the others didn't know about. Theirs was for the oxhead that they sell but I was able to whittle it down to suit my need for the vintage forge-welded Swedish head that I have.

You might find some luck with this outfit, I might even order a spare for myself.

Try Timberland Supply on Mayfield road, The Stihl dealer. They have some high end axes. Or the Axehole on Kingsway beside CDN Tire, they are a Throwing Axe range, they would tell you where to get one.

Default Axe

I got mine at Timberland, it was too big, but I worked it down with a plane to fit. Someone must have the smaller sizes, but I looked for a few years and couldn't find one.

Kent of Inglewood carries both Wetterlings and Granfors Bruks axes, axe heads, and handles. They might have what you're looking for. On Whyte Ave in Edmonton.
