Anyone stayed down in Craig Montana?
Thinking of heading down there this next May long weekend. Just wanted to know if anyone else had been down there, and if they had any must fish streams down there that a guy should go to? Any advice or hints would be great as it's a long way away to go do some pre scouting......

You can camp at the holter dam site(upstream of craig, decent campground), camp in town at their in town campsite(glorified parking lot), or you can do what we do and stay at the trout shop lodge. Reasonable rates, clean rooms and stumbling distance from the downtown strip. My two cents.

Stayed at both the town site as above - and as above, is nothing other than a parking lot - and then moved to the trout shop lodge the next couple of nights after we woke to 6" of snow on the tent and needed to dry some stuff out after the snow turned to rain. Would definitely recommend the shop - esp if you are unfamiliar with the area and are looking for a few tips as far as where to wet a line.

I lived and guided out of Wolf Creek for a summer back in the late 90's...depending on runoff May long is dry fly heaven on the Missouri! Though a drift boat is prefered there are plenty of opportunity's for a shore fisherman down there and believe me you won't want to fish anywhere else. Another option is the upper Smith...there's a back road from Craig to get there but it's an hour each way on a lousy road! Fly shop in Craig will help you out.

great river. May long....get ready for a lot of traffic. Not discouraging, just warning you of the boat traffic on this river and the differences in fishing etiquette down there. Makes the bow river look like nothing with the amount of pressure. I was shocked.
