Default Sitka gear

Well, I finally broke down and am going to buy some new clothing this year. Been doing a lot of research, talking to guides, etc. I’m going to be ordering some Sitka for the fall and can’t wait to try it out. What systems are guys using out there? Looking at ordering the stratus/fanatic stuff in the elevated pattern.. hard to make the final decision with so many choices though. Anyone out there running the stratus line? Or any other Sitka gear, what has your experience been? Cheers!!

Sitka makes great gear
The system to use is based on the weather conditions, style of hunting etc
The stratus and fanatic are great for stand style of hunting
Fanatic is warmer than the stratus

If your ordering it direct from sitka be aware that your going to have to pay duty on it.

Yeah I’ve heard the duty can get a little heavy ordering direct.. luckily I have the ability to order to an address in the US and then bring it over to save on duty this time.. fanatic bibs look amazing but super pricey.. thinking of getting the fanatic hoodie for when it’s too warm for the stratus jacket.. then can double up when it’s cooler

What type of hunting are you going to be doing? That plays a major factor in the choice

I can't say enough good things about Sitka.

Best piece of hunting clothing I've ever owned is the Timberline pant from Sitka. I don't see anything ever beating these pants. I've since bought two more pairs to have for the years/decades to come. 5 years and counting on the current pair, and I wear them non stop from Sept-Dec.

As for other stuff, like others have said it all depends on what you're hunting, when, temps, etc.

The other option is buy it used. I’ve picked 90% of mine up used, mostly in brand new condition for 40-60% the new cost with no shipping or duty. Depends on your sizing and patience.

But if money is no object go nuts.

I picked up a fair amount of Sitka last year from Wapiti Sports in Canmore. They were great to deal with. Not disappointed in any of the gear to this point, although I have only used it for a year.

Let us know what type of hunting/conditions you want it for so we can offer some opinions.

Most of the hunting I’m going to do is out of tree stands.. come November I usually like to walk more than I sit.. but the first two months will be stand hunting for sure. I’ve looked at some of the subalpine pattern gear that’s a little thinner for early season.. traverse pants, some hoodies that kind of thing.. but that might be a next year problem

I've heard they are changing a few things, but here is what I have and what I liked....

Mountain pant - really comfortable and seem very durable. The Timberline pant is similar, but has ripstop knee and butt pads. Didn't like those just from a camo perspective as I feel the knees 'flash' as you walk with the solid color.

Heavyweight hoody - I wasn't sure about this but it has become a go to piece. Comfortable, warm, breathes well, just a perfect piece by itself when it is warm (not hot) or cool, and a great foundation or midlayer.

Kelvin Active Jacket - really lightweight and comfortable. Similar to a puffy but dries very fast. But, I think they are replacing this with the Ambient series. Good for a midlayer or outer layer, depending on the temp.

Jetstream Jacket - really good jacket for cool-cold, windy conditions and even some moisture. Really like this one, but I hear they may be replacing/revamping it later this summer.

Equinox hoody - I don't see this one talked about much, but I'm really impressed with this jacket. Excellent midseason outer or layering piece. I got it in Elevated II camo for October/November deer hunting.

Fanatic Lite bib - I have always liked a bib and this one suits me really well for cool to cold temps. Not too heavy, so works good under heavier clothes, or by itself. They may have discontinued this one in favor of the Stratus, which has windproofing.

I find these work good from early to late season, just a matter of layering properly. I wore many of the tops at the same time in November, and then a big suit over them when it got colder. There are lots of choices in their lineup, but I've been pretty happy with these.

The best thing they make is the kelvin down jacket with wind stopper
Insanely warm
Kuiu had to come out with the burner to compete with it
