Default Carrying or shipping Bows across the border

Simple question for those of you that have experience with this...
Is there any paperwork or regulations on compound bows crossing the border, whether personal or purchases?

I know lots about fish crossing the line, but details on guns or bows ????

Thanks in advance

You are free and clear to take a bow across- no questions asked. (well maybe a couple)

Didn't mean to confuse you. No questions asked "about your bow".

They will however grill you about everything else to make it as difficult as possible for a resident to go home.

There shouldn't be any problems. You can send them through the mail no problem so I don't imagine driving across the border with one would be a problem.

Ya....darnit eh. Residents should be allowed to cross into a country with hardly any questions asked. Its not as if any of them ever attempt to smuggle drugs, guns, child pornography, prohibited items, etc into the country...

No worries on the bow.....

I always have an easy time going across the border into the states it's when coming back the Canadians are always arragant *****s. I wouldn't even mention the Bow when you come across, I find the less you tell them the better. Yes or No answers only.

Don't all 'weapons' have to be declared?

Anything you purchase down there has to be declared. And again, bows are a non-issue.

I appreciate the feedback guys..
Don't know if I'll be buying a bow south of the border or from someone on this forum, but good to know the details in case I see one that I want to move on quickly.

Searching for a Bowtech Admiral or Captain RH....

Default bow - I got mine in the US

I bought mine during a business trip to the US (yeah I know, I should work, not play).

Just went to a cabelas in minneapolis and then took it with me on the plane (not as carry on, but in the special size luggage section).

Declared the value on the immigration/customs card when entering canada, of course.

They did not ask any questions and it was no problem at all.

Taking a stroller for your kids is more hassle than importing a bow and broadhead arrows !!!

All in all, I figure I paid about 30% less than I would have paid here. At the time the US$ was weaker though.

Good luck

Maybe consider buying a proper carry case for the new purchase, Out of sight, Out of mind, being properly stored is less likely for any questions. They are potentially going to trigger questions about bringing meat accross, or if you have visited any farms/agricultural sites during your visit.
