In Ottawa, the bucket brigades keep them...any size and in any season...no matter what the regs say!! Also, if you've ever fished any lakes in Ontario, you'd see that you can catch 5+lb bass AS WELL AS record breaking Perch, Pike, walleye!!

Can we get some halibut in one of our lakes too idea guy? I love jigging for them and they are tasty. P.S stay away from Mcgregor I like my lake the way it is.

How about we leave the management of our fisheries to professionals? There are lots of good reasons to NOT stock bass in any AB waters, but the most important is that there are a lot of people who cannot be trusted when it comes to illegal fish introductions.

If you want to catch bass, or panfish, or salmon, or carp, then do so on your vacation. What is that old saying? Getting there is half the fun?

Smallmouth bass are quite likely THE most predatory,prolific,scum of the river invasive species that one could possibly introduce to any native trout fishery,and Bill Dance wannabe bucket brigade b*******s are the biggest threat to any salmonid habitat within trailering distance of an established SMB population.Approximately 70% of Nova Scotia's and 50% of New Brunswick's Atlantic Salmon and brook trout habitats have been irreversibly lost forever to the illegal introduction of SMB.
In my relatively short lifetime,I've witnessed watershed after watershed in southern NB overtaken by SMB,completely destroying the native trout fisheries I grew up with....the situation in NS is even more dire!!

Is this the fate we want for the world famous,blue ribbon trout fishery that is the Bow River?

LOL as far as I know trout are more sought after than bass for table fare. At least trout have stamina in a fight, every largemouth I've ever hooked is exhausted after 30 seconds...

I agree largemouth are not table fair by any means But to tell you the truth I'm not that fond of trout either maybe up in the mountains. You get a LM in a wood pile you will see one tricky fish. And SM on light tackle can set your heart on fire. Biggest problem is people fight bass with shark gear ....lol

come on people there are trophy bass with in a six hour drive for most of southern alberta.the same for musky, monster rainbow. why would we threaten our already taxed waters with a possible exotic species introduction. makes no sense. the wookie is from kashik what is he doing on tatooien makes no sense.

I think I have read the whole thread, and offered what I think are a viable solution to the bass issue. cooling ponds,with a restricted access. after which a more workable understanding may give us the chance for further stocking I am not completely against introduced species. I just understand I know very little of introducing a foreign fish to our somewhat fragile waters. I drive six hours to get my rainbow fix why cant others do the same.
