Default Boat registry $$$

Just went on line to change owner ship of a pleasure craft.
Looks like for 2021 it went from free to $135.

Anyone else register a boat this year .

This is the registration for the numbers that you they assign to your hull?

I was surprised when I bought my boat that it was free. But not surprised that you have to pay for this now. Usually anything the gov't has their hands in will cost you something. $135 seems a little excessive though.

Just renewed my boat registration online Thursday. Was free and in fact got my new boat registration via email Friday. Surprised how fast it was.

Oldest trick in the book! They make official looking sites and charge you a service fee to fill out the paperwork. Just go directly to the Transport Canada site.

Edit. I guess I should throw the link in. Pleasure craft registration is what your after.

Looking at that Website - at the bottom its states that it is a 'THIRD PARTY" provider. I guess that meas you "Hired" them do do the paper work for you.

It wasn't directly with Canadian Govt.

You been Had . . . . .

That https://canadianvesselregistry.ca website is a scam.

$525 for first time registration? I don't recall paying anything when I registered my boat.

The lower site you listed just talks about it but does not have a registry site on it .

appreciate the info in this thread...thanks fellas. Going to be selling our boat this spring and hopefully buying a different pre-owned boat. The documents from the government site will be very helpful!
