Default Pigeon - Mulhurst ... point

A quick post ...

Was out at the point west of Mulhurst last Monday and today 7 am - 2 pm ... hit them with everything.

Didn't catch any, nor did the 5 fishermen around me.

We were in water from 6 - 14 feet (moved around to target them). I suspect they might be deeper in the day and at dusk move shallower? No other fishermen saw fish in the water.

Targeted Walleye and Pike with minnows, smelts etc.

Just an update.

Also, ice was 19-22 in.

Northern

I’ve been catching more walleye in deep water. 15-30 feet. Grandview area. The guys fishing on the top of the shelf(12 feet of water) were only catching right at last light.

How is access onto the lake? Is it fairly flat and smooth in Mulhurst? Anywhere else would be appreciated too

When I fish Pigeon that's usually where I go and find the same thing. And really pays to stay till dark. Don't know how many times I've seen guys packing up when the bite is just starting. Usually short but can get pretty crazy.

Has anybody found any iffy areas of ice on the lake? anorthernhunter says 19+ inches. Has anybody found any pucker moments after drilling the hole lately? Was thinking of hitting mulhurst myself. Must be lots of vehicles out there now..

Trucks are driving right across the middle of the lake from one side to the other now. Seen a few doing it. At the beginning of ice it was pretty inconsistent. Lately wherever I punched holes it’s been 18” plus.
I’m still to chicken to cross the middle yet though.

Been out 3 times in the last 7 days on the Mulhurst side. Most bites and fish show up at dusk/sunset. Got 10 between two people in 40 minutes on Saturday, first fish started at 4:30. Got 12 today by myself in 2-1/2hrs, first bite and fish started at 3:45. Filled some A and B tags in the last couple of trips. Most have been in the 45-47cm size but a few under 40 and a few over 50. The biggest was 57 on Saturday.

Mulhurst boat launch access is in great shape, easy to go anywhere after that. Ice is 22” thick.

Haven’t noticed any but I’m sure there is. 18-19” of good ice is plenty.

7-12 feet of water, caught mostly in the shallower areas.

Can you access the lake through the provincial park? Last year it was shut down at the end of the season due to covid. What about Grandview?

Saw a post that the heaves pushed Up again this week along shore all along that side of the lake the at Grandview, the PP and at Crystal Springs launches. Not sure if anyone has broken a way thru them with a bar yet or not.

I fished Grandview today in the hurricane winds. The heave did push up at the boat launch but I was able to cross it in my half ton.

There might’ve been a couple heaves starting at the mulhurst boat launch on Wednesday. Anybody know if they pushed up with this wind?

Question

I was at Mulhurst yesterday on a search mission for my shack and there was no issue getting on the lake at the boat launch. Going again tomorrow and I can post again if there are any changes

IM sure there were many shacks on their sides or in a new location on Wednesday. That wind was brutal.

Lol.
Mulhurst was dead on Tuesday. No luck anyway. Found the lake very slow today too. Maybe it’ll pick up with this cold front coming in..

I went for tour today and saw quite a few shacks in very new spots where I’ve never seen shacks before. Lol. The wind definitely played havoc with a few of them from what I could see. Saw a few pieces torn from a couple but non that looked completely wrecked Or anything...Noticed a lot of snow blown into crusty drifts on the south side of the lake. Could make access an issue

Default whitefish

Ok, fish99, I'm begging, nay, on my knees pleading, you have to help me catch some whitefish at Pigeon. I've been fishing it for 12 years and, yes, have caught a lot and lot of walleye (although lately, in the last two weeks, the action has really slowed), but have caught just one Whitefish. How pathetic is that?! Please, you do not need to reveal your spots, just how you fish for them. Depth, lures, action. Mid water. Deep. Times of day. Anything you can help me would be absolutely most appreciated.

Hey guys, trying to find access to Grandview on Google Maps and I'm not seeing anything. Is there any public access in that area?

Yes. Just drive along the lake at grandview can’t miss it. It’s right next to a small playground
