Question GPS Units

In the next couple weeks I'm planning to purchase a new hand-held GPS. Can anyone recommend a good one in the <$300 range?

I have only used gps on my android phone, but lets face it...the battery life and reliability can't be trusted when your deep in the bush.

Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks

Without a doubt, the Garmin 60 Csx is your best gps for the money right now. They are discontinued, (not sure why as they are far better than their new replacements the 62) Costco has them for $200 and gps central for $219

X2

Get the Garmin 60csx before they are all gone.....

I just got one a couple weeks ago and I love it. 8 days from ordering delivered to my door. Just keep in mind once you get the handheld you will have to drop from $80-200 or more for decent map sets, but the one from Costco makes that map purchase a bit easier because of the money you saved on the unit.

FYI for a free topography map of Canada check out this website http://www.ibycus.com/

I installed it on my Garmin 62S and it works great.

Roadhunter??????

Do they even make a handheld unit?????

I agree that the Garmin 60csx is the best bang for the buck out there right now. I would stay withing the Garmin family regardless.

Myself, I don't have a 60CSX. But I do have a Garmin Etrex Legend that has worked like a top since I got it over 10 years ago. It has been through a lot in the bush, on the water etc. But it still works good, having a problem with it not updating my current location at times. That is due more to the operator sometimes than anything else. Definitely stay with the Garmin brand for sure.

You should consider what software you want to be using. I decided I really wanted to use the Backroad Maps software. Way more detailed locally than the Garmin stuff. GPS central had a special where you could get Backroad Map for Alberta with a Garmin Oregon 450 touch screen at a really discounted price, so I got that. Killer GPS
