Head to wholesale sports or bass pro and pick up a savage package deal or they even have the weatherby vanguard package that even comes with a hard case.

Look on the buy and sell or post this on the guns and ammo forum it does not belong here.

Easy gents.
He is asking what combo to get, so I think it belongs in this section as this is place to expect advise from other nice members of this forum.

Chad
You did not specify $ value what you consider decent.
This would help to give you advise
I would second Spenny's advise about Savage combos. I have two buddies that use this set up in 30-06 for 4 years and are very happy they paid about 450.
I think this is decent and you can get this set up in 300WM.

Andrew

Wholesale sports is selling brand new Sako A7 with FREE Burris 3-9X40 scope and Burris rings.

I think the rings and scopes costs close to $300 and Sako A7 is a great gun. So for $1000, you have setup good for life.

Just my 2 cents

No big deal chad this is a great place to ask other members what their opinion is on which rifle you should consider!
Depending on what your price range is???
For around 700 you can pick up a remington sps in 300 win mag. It looks to be a fairly good deal, but ive never shot one. Or if you wanna go even cheaper look at a stevens model 200 or a mossberg 4x4 like bearbait said.
I did own a savage 111 and it was an ok rifle. Fairly decent shooting for the price roughly 450$ Mine was a 7mm rem magnum. Good Luck

Hmmmm, not too sure what your price range is, but for a decent rifle at a very good price, Wholesale has a pretty good deal going on their Tika T3 in 300 WSM for a while now, with Burris scope and rings... I almost got this, but ended up putting something else together instead. But I was sorely tempted by it:

I wouldn't recommend a 300 win mag in a light gun..been there done that..270 out of your choices would be a better fix.
As far as model and manufacturer. you really have to shoulder them to get a feel for what is best.

Chad, you opened up a can of worms You are going to get every brand under the sun suggested to you. You asked for a "decent" rifle, and quite frankly I think most people here would agree that every "major" manufacturer (Remington, Winchester, Savage, Weatherby, Ruger, Browning, etc. etc.) makes one. That's why every major brand has it's fans here. We argue the details and preferences and perhaps a person had a bad experience with one brand, but every one of those companies I listed makes a rifle that will reliably kill game in most of the hunting conditions you will find here.

So go to a good gun store and shoulder lots of different brands, see what feels good, what fits you and your budget. A cheaper Stevens or similar will work. If you want to spend a little more you can get something "nicer", but it's not required.

You'll find the best deals on the forum here, used guns in stores aren't usually much of a deal Stick with a guy on here who's got a few posts and some feedback.

If you can find a good used rifle with scope for under $500 you are doing well. Here's another option for you on a new rifle/scope combo for the price that your shopping in.

http://ca.wholesalesports.com/storef...rod171500.html

They are good, reliable and accurate rifles but you won't have the bragging rights of owning an expensive, nice looking rifle. The deer and moose that I shoot with my Savages don't taste any different than the ones shot with a nice looking, expensive rifle.
