in 234 you can hunt the whole zone
in 236 and 254 you can only hunt certain ranges

I looked on my oilfield mapping and it goes down to 10. That is odd?

256 lies against the Sask. border. Twp. 1 is 6 miles wide against the SK border. You may only hunt within 18 miles (3 townships) of the border.

It is also marked on the maps on P. 70 of the hunting regs. If you are unsure.

You have 18 miles from the border to the end of range 3.

I was born and raised in the area and its been tough hunting all year. We have stayed away from the CWD areas as much as possible because there have been a TON of people out in there. Also you may have a hard time getting permission, I know quite a few of the landowners in the CWD area in both 256 and 236 and they arent to keen on the CWD tags and people using them, however some dont care either way. I for one refuse to buy and use them. Dont you think you should have maybe done some more background info on the area before getting the tags?

Understandable, well they are a friend of mines tags and I was going to go out with him and try to take some animals for a late deep freeze fill up.
He has some permission, but I like to know area by each quarter and find out more than just showing up for the first time to an area and trying to literally wing it...
I have some great mapping and just looking to further my knowledge on the area.

It has been known to produce some big bucks but it is kind of hard to hunt as it is mostly agricultural fields with not a lot bush so the animals are scattered throughout and can be anywhere. Dont take this the wrong way but if your buddy has permission than chances are a lot of other people do to and the animals may be scitterish in there now, for your sake hopefully not.

Do you have any insight on where to go or who to talk to? I would just love to fill a doe tag of his with the bow. As far as the country goes Im not to worried about it as I am from Medicine Hat and know how to hunt that country quite well.
Thanks for the insight.

what you are about to do is totally Against the law. you cannot use anyone elses tags or aid anyone else in harvesting the animal ( push bush) you can be there with them but in arms reach and no firearm or bow present. I would not waste the time to go up there if you personally do not have tags in your pocket. With the reg general seasons closed the Fish and Wildlife will be out in full force watching the cwd zones. seen 2 trucks this afternoon

True. I am more or less looking to go along with him.. realistically the chances of me taking an animal are slim.. I would most likely be hunting yote's and helping him get the animal out, do some spotting etc etc.
No law against me hunting coyotes carrying a bow...
But thanks for your heads up.. I realize the law, and respect that.
