SCI Calgary Chapter Fundraising Banquet April 30th
Attachment 119687
Safari means a journey or expedition in Swahili. Although it is most often and traditionally associated with hunting in East Africa, it is not necessarily so. I love my journeys and expeditions "safaris" with friends and family here in Alberta. Hunting is under attack, and not just in Africa because of Cecil. My teenage daughters like to hunt, but will any of my (potential) grandchildren be able to hunt? All hunters need to stand together and fight to preserve our passion, or hunting will be a thing of the past in a few short years.
Safari Club International works locally, nationally and internationally to promote and fight for hunting.
SCI Calgary Chapter's Fundraising Banquet is April 30th. You may purchase tickets through our website. http://www.sci-calgary.org/auction-2016/
Thank you for your support.

Some tickets still remain.
Get your tickets now. Only two weeks remain before the banquet. There will be no tickets available at the door. We a have a diverse list of auction items.
Laker fishing in the NWT
Hunting in Namibia, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Spain, South Africa ( Northern Cape and Eastern Cape), Texas
Helicopter tour of Calgary and romantic dinner for two
Luxury condo for a romantic weekend in Canmore and spa for the lady
Fly fishing on the upper Athabasca River
Wildlife art.
That's just some of the live auction items, many more items to raffle and of course the silent auction.
Come support the only hunter advocate group that works locally, nationally and internationally.

No, not 100% complete on website.
There will be fewer live auction items as feedback indicated the auction was too long.

Unfortunately SCI showed their true colors when they threw the Dentist under the bus regarding the mess Cecil brought forth to our community.

There is a ton of great local work being done by the Alberta chapters of SCI that relies upon the success of each chapter's annual banquet. It would be a shame to reduce the support received by the local chapters because of this one incident.
Good luck with the banquet AB2506. Hope you guys do great, and thanks for all of your time spent volunteering.

Yep. Shortening the list of live auction items is a bad decision. Most other things there go for more than retail value in the silent auction already. The live auction stuff does attract people for sure, I was disappointed when I looked at the list. Best of luck with the dinner, hope it goes well for you.

There's been a passing of the torch as well with SCI Calgary. We have a really fantastic board this year going into the banquet, and truly great donation support from many of the local suppliers as well.
The auction item list was shortened as mentioned due to feedback from the previous years, which will hopefully make the evening very enjoyable for all attending.
Please join in the evening to support a new rebranded chapter of Calgary SCI and a group of very passionate outdoors-people!

A great auctioneer is key to a really successful auction. Our trapping association is lucky enough to get the guys from the Southern Alberta Livestock Exchange, and man, are those guys good. Funny, too! Good luck tonight!

How did the hunts sell in comparison to other years. I know the northern hunts sold below other years but still reasonable prices?

Banquet success
Yes, it is true that we had a real tough time with the African hunts at the auction and some we did not sell. It was not for lack of auctioneer expertise or quality of the hunts. It can really be chalked up to a sign of the times. The rest of the fund raising went quite well and we are thankful to have pretty much a full house at the dinner. Sponsors and guests alike cannot be thanked enough!
Lots of positive comments following the dinner. All we can do is strive to make it better again every year. And let's hope the economy turns around for everyone!!!

hunts
I was unable to attend the dinner, what is being done with the unsold donated hunts. Can you PM me a list of what there is if you are still trying to sell them, or do they just get canceled with the outfitter? Thanks

It has allegedly happened in the past.
The whole Rudolph vs SCI issue was an eye opener for me.
As for being embarrassed, I'm not the one that should be.
Congrats on your successful supper.

What did I say that was out of line to have my post removed ? Did I miss something ? Is SCI a sponsor?
Why is asking some questions about a hunting organization and there policies against the rules on a hunting forum?
