Default 22LR Prices

Wow has 22 lr shells prices gone through the roof!
I was at the consort gun show on the weekend April 9th

A brick of Remington cyclones were $65 and the Remington yellow jackets were $95.This is for 500 rounds.

Just hard to believe the prices on the 22 shells.
My gun really likes the cyclones but might have to find a different brand
Gopher plinking is getting expensive too!

And the funny thing is, that some people thought that it was ridiculous to pay $500 for 5000 SK or RWS loads a couple of years ago. Now people are paying that much and more for the low end crap, and I still have 15,000 rounds of the SK and RWS loads left.

And we will see these prices continue to rise as long as (a few) consumers feel the need to hoard and clean out retailer's stock at every opportunity. If someone offers to privately sell you hard to find ammo, you should decline.

Sadly its not just the gunshow that its getting expensive. The cheepest i have been able to find gunshow or otherwise had been winchester wildcats for $40 a brick.

I bought a 50 round pack at Cabbellas a couple weeks ago. I mentioned to the guy at the gun counter that I couldn't believe how cheap they were. 3.95 for a pack of 50 seemed almost not worth the companies time to make and ship out the bullets. Didn't look at the price of a large box.

We better get used to those prices as I doubt they are going to come down anytime soon, the low CDN $ has something to do with it as do the people who believe that they can gouge because of the shortage, however nobody forces us to buy from the gougers, once they sit on them for a while their price will come down, my thoughts are if you can find 22lr for anything around .08 per round you better pick them up as that's probably the best you will see again. that's just my 22 cents worth

It does! But some companies are marketing containers holding different amounts these days.

I have a couple old Super X bricks of this ammo. Older Yellow box with the Red X, not inexpensive however. FS

Default Cci mini mag

I'm getting mini mags at wholesale sports for 10 bucks per hundred. Have seen other stores in Edmonton at 14 this week.

.22 lr prices haven't gone through the roof, our dollar is gone down the man hole. Prices for every-ammo-thing are up! I am still surviving on my stock of CCI minimags from last year. I find they shoot the best out of my rifle, so I decided to buy a bunch, seems like a great decision now.
But the good news is that there are plenty of ammo around unlike last year when people had to argue with the managers because the employee wont let them have more than 2 boxes of .22 lr.

Factor in that the dollar is worth 25% less than last year and most prices at reputable dealers are right in line.
Not just ammo...rifles, camping gear, optics (which I sell) all saw 10-25% increases in the last couple of months.
The interesting thing to see is if and when our dollar ever gets close to parity again...will prices come down??

I honestly think that prices will come down once the dollar sees a significant rise. With so many big box stores around, cabelas, wholesale, sail, bass pro, grouse river, just to name a few and not to forget the online shopping. There is alot of competition amongst stores. I work part time at a gun store and I remember getting a big stack of tags with new prices when our dollar first hit .80 to the usd. Its so bad that getting something on vendor discount is not even worth it anymore...

Unhappy

After a little internet searching it appears that to find .22 ammo under 7 cents a shot is very difficult. I found some Winchester 555 packs and some American Eagle 500 packs that were just under 7 cents a shot, but that was it and I had to work to find those. I would really like to find some standard velocity CCI's which seem to be no less than 10 cents a shot. The cheapest Eley ammo I found was 20 cents a shot. I guess I best put the semi-auto away and stick with the single shot for a little while until I can find a deal (fingers crossed) to refresh the ammo supplies.
