Default Accommodations in Peace River

She who shall not be named and her loyal servant (me) will be heading up to Peace River for a few days (visiting her mother in the hospital). We will want to stay in a hotel/motel. Not looking for the most expensive nor the cruddiest.

Is there any that we should definitely stay away from?

Thanks

Gerry

Stay away from the Mac.
Traveller’s is getting old.
One of the new ones on the west hill.
Come to think of it I think the Mac burnt down?

Been a while since I was up there but I think I stayed at the Nova Inn and it was nice . Never been disappointed with Nova Inn anywhere .

I vote Nova, and you can walk to Mr Mikes.

A new hotel opened up beside the Nova, I am pretty sure it's a Holiday Inn, but could be Best Western. Not positive. I wouldn't recommend Best Western downtown though.

They are the two best bets .

I wouldn't stay down town, stay up near Walmart where everything is new.

Yes the Mac burnt down quite a few years back now...but even in saying that, I wouldn’t stay there for sleep, the bar on the main level is pretty crude and old and smelly...don’t ask how I know these things please!
My vote is for the Nova, I used to house workers from outa town in there, I never got any complaints on the goings on in there.

I usually stay at the Mission Suites. Very nice and right by the river and downtown. Western Budget on the West Hill is pretty good too although I haven't stayed there in a long time.

Best Western.

Agreed with the rest. Not a fan of Mike’s though.

Yes Okotok...I totally forgot about Mission Suites, a friend of mine used to come up to visit and he would always stay there...he said it felt like home, they did major Reno’s in that building a few years back or maybe even a tad more than a few..but ya, this place is a good place!

Yes, very nice place. Still owned by Sissons?

The Mac...wow...many interesting memories from there when I was there in mid 80s/90s.

As others said, most newer places on top of the West hill is fine.

Stay at the Third Mission suites. That’s where I put everyone from work up from Edmonton and they all love it. The other option is the new Nova Hotel on the west side of town by the hospital. The old Nova by Mr. Mikes I don’t believe is even open currently.

I stayed at the Best Western Plus two weeks ago, and it was clean, nice rooms, and they had good COVID protocols. Walked across to Mr. Mike's to pick up supper. They have a small liquor store in the same building for any night caps.

Budget Motel is good, and the restaurant there is one of the better ones in town. Have not stayed at the new Nova. Mission Suites is also good, especially if you are staying for a longer period of time. Have not stayed at any in the past 12 months since Covid hit so you may want to phone and check rates, Covid rules, are the restaurants doing takeout cause there is no sit down and do you want your own Kitchen facilities.

Mission suites has full kitchens which is pretty handy.

True, that is why I suggested them for longer stays. I get tired of restaurant food after a while.
