Tikka T3x Varmint
I am curious if anybody has a Tikka T3X Varmint in .308?
I am considering it instead of the Rem 700 Magpul.?
I know the Tikka has an 11 twist, I am curious how it likes the heavier bullets?
I am super curious about the 6.5 creedmore. Ive always loved .308, but it sure seems pretty impressive.
I want mainly to shoot at paper out to 1000.
Would appreciate any feedback.

I had one, a friend had a T-3 Super Varmint in 6.5x55, and another friend has a T-3 Sporter in 6.5x55, and all three rifles would shoot sub 1/2moa for five shots. I only sold mine, because the longest range that I now have access to is only 300m

Yes. I can see that
I can honestly say Ive never shot a 6.5
I grew up with Dads bias so Ive always owned .30
What are components like for the 6.5x55? I always lean to .308 (I have 2 already) because its easy to find wide selection

.264" target bullets are easy to find, as are 6.5x55 Lapua cases.

Here you go:
http://www.tikka.fi/rifles/tikka-t3/t3-super-varmint
I have the heavy barrel varmint model in .223 ...... it is scary accurate.
Shooters Choice has the Varmint model in 6.5x55 for sale. If you are interested in long range shooting this caliber is really worth researching.

Appreciate the imput
Im still drawn to the rem 700 magpul.
Maybe split the difference and try the 260rem?
I like that the 700 has faster twist rates, and 5r rifling.

Put a limbsaver on it. All my Tikkas wear limb savers including my 22-250. The limb savers help increase the length of pull.

The .260 is one of the 6.5 variants(.264" diameter bullet)

Lol I know that
I meant split the difference and get the 700 in 260rem
And then I can feel like dads bias can hold true and stay in the .308 family.
Will the 6.5x55 really outperform the 260rem over 500 yards?

The 6.5x55 has a slight edge with heavy bullets if you can seat them long enough but not by a lot splitting hairs
I built both mine on a 700 long action to get the 140's out far enough works very well

Just get a 700 action and do a custom 6.5 creedmore. Nice Jury barrel with a trigger and stock of your choice.

Agree I had a savage that was only a .270 but with the rock hard pad it hurt and my 300 win mag is a pleasure to shoot. A new libsaver fixed the .270 problem.

Accurate as heck
I have a friend with a t3x varmint in .204 ruger. I've watched him put 5 shots into the same ragged little hole multiple times. When one shot leaves even a shred of paper between it and the others we give him a hard time.

You arent making it easy on me. I thought I had decided on the remmy 700 in.308 win.
I wish the tikka heavy barrels came in 260 or 6.5 creedmore, or if they do, I wish they were available

The T3 sporter does come in 260 and 6.5x55. Also
The new TAC A1 has .260 and 6.5 CM as options as well. These all have heavier type barrel.
Also forgot to mention the CTR in 260 & 6.5 cm.
