The gloss finish on the WGM line is quite prone to surface nicks, but I've hunted mine hard and only gone into the wood in one spot. I cringed at the first noticeable gouge, but it's just a sign I love my rifle now.

Great rifle / cartridge combo. I wouldn't worry about ammo, it is readily available. I personally like the offerings from Federal Premium, been using their Nosler partition and TSX for a number of years in 140 gr. Nothing has argued with me yet about being under gunned.

The BLR is a fine rifle with the only detractor being the trigger. Its awful compared to a well tuned bolt action, but it can still be used.

My father hunted for years with a BLR in 300 WM and we both used it to kill quite a few animals. I did take a WT buck at a hair under 400yds so it can be used in a stretch.

Such a rifle in 7mm-08 would do its owner well.

Happy hunting.

Do it!! Then go buy more rifles later...

Following up here after sighting mine in yesterday...

I know a lot can go into making a rifle sight-in well (or not), but yesterday took me 3 shots. I sent a 4th down the pipe for giggles. My BLR has been a tack driver from day 1.

Beautiful Rifle! My father's '81 BLR is still my favorite to shoot. I think you made a fine purchase. Best of luck this season!

I have one in 243,it is beat up pretty bad but still shoots and is a great deer rifle.I haven't used it for quite a few years but it did take alot of deer.
I like the stainless version and I think 7-08 is a perfect cal.
Good luck with it.

Beautiful rifle, my grandad fed a family of 8 with his old BLR in 308, still functioned flawlessly many years later.
