Default Double cougar

comeing out a dirt road to highway 40,from area 316.A routine day of hunting over. Two animals bolted in front of the headlights,It took a while, but realized it was cougars, blinded they continued to lope ahead for some distance. It indeed a rare occurance.Big and powerful looking, its a very good thing indeed that they avoid humans.

One caught in a lynx set 2 years ago near Conklin. Looked juvenile. So mama was probably from a nearby area. Not likely a juvenile traveled from the mountains to Conklin. More likely mom is from Lac la Biche and the kids are exploring new territory

And yes my sister saw one on a green belt in Timberlea 4 years ago.

I was near Bearberry last weekend and saw more cougar tracks than deer tracks. Had one try to sneak up on me 2 years ago as well. Time for a new hunting spot.

I guess it depends where you live and hunt. Certainly not rare around here if you spend any time outside.

Very few things in Alberta will hunt a human, cougars are one of them.

Oh boy, didnt think of that--On the farm,I found out a big domestic tom cat,can be vicious, hard to handle.--Fast-bite-four claws--they can bite thru a welding glove-My cat wise cat killing large hounds, would circle and aproach with extreme caution a trapped tom cat--he is not going down without a fight. Now if a cougar wanted to could be on you in seconds, and tear you to pieces.

What are you talking about?
So now your special? Lots of people have seen cougars. I could see it worth sharing if you seen one where there isn’t a known population. But the foothills?
Come on man. Next your going to making a post about seeing a ruffie

Kinda harsh don't ya think? I believe the op was just commenting how rare it is to see for him..not anybody else, now if you haven't grasped that part yet...I dought the op thinks he is special as you have meantioned..maybe step away for a 1/2 hour break of posting such negative comments...the break is actually for us...not you!

I've had a young cougar watch me while I was steel heading a river in North Vancouver once, and we've seen them out west of Red Deer in the Weyerhauser area, twice.
