Default Tipping Cancun charter - Taste of Canada

We are headed to Cancun in April, my son and I have booked an 8hr trip to hopefully catch sailfish. I'm pretty optimistic we will have a great day so I'd like to be prepared with my gratuity. Besides throwing some good ol hard earned Alberta cash (US dollars lol) their way, I'd like to add a little something more memorable, more Canadian. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I always tip 25% and always in cash. If the mate does a great job then add to his tip.

When we were in Mexico, Cuba, DR etc I always used the Len Thompson dimple series spoons of various sizes and colours....yup they catch so maybe a few for the guides would be appreciated.

I used these spoons casting from shore, in a peddle boat jigging and cruising in a boat trolling the look from others was I want one too.

If they put the work in then yes....its fishing remember.
If they just drag one bait or float around all day then maybe not.

Thanks guys, great idea mentioning Len Thompson. I may pack a few hockey t-shirts or ball caps too, not sure yet. I’ll tip even if we don’t catch as long as there is legitimate effort.
