Ryersons is the cheapest put but there is a minimum and its a lot more than a sheet of checker plate and u need an account which they will do. Calgary aluminum is more money per piece but there isn’t a minimum.

try a sheetmetal shop
Most sheetmetal shops/suppliers should be able to get what you want and even plasma cut it for you. Being in Calgary I would call Rosedale, Alggin or Ecco.

If you were up here I would order you a sheet.
My recommendation is to go 4' high.
A 4'×10' of 1/8 Aluminum Checker should cost you about $320-$360
1/16" material would be $200-$240.
The lower of the 2 prices is what one would pay with an account, ordering a single sheet.
1/16" will be much easier to wrap around corners, but will show every ding.
I think they make a 12GA or 14GA which would be a good balance.
I would recommend walking into a fab shop that offers shearing and breaking and see if they'll order one for you.
Metal Supermarkets should be avoided at all costs unless you are only buying a tiny piece. They are Super Expensive.

I'm in Edmonton. I run a steel distribution centre. This is today's price for Alum check plate - 4x10's -
1/16"/14GA = $101.00
1/8" - #192.00
3/16' - $280.00
1/4" - $370.70
We would have a minimum order of 4 or 5 sheets at that price. If you're paying more than that PM me.

No kidding-they used to be civilized in their pricing, but now you get hosed even on their end cuts.

I tried checking some prices online. From what came up it looks like they wanted $120 for a 10' piece of plain 2" X 1/4" steel flat bar (A36) I think I pay 1.30 a foot....
