Default Cant help it, I've got a thing for the older gals!

My search for a better still hunting rifle ended with this old Swedish granny. She's got a few wrinkles but still got that trim figure, with curves in all the right places, and can she still party boys. She's a Husqvarna 1500 ultralight in 30-06, 20" barrel, 7lbs on the dot scoped and loaded. I've only tried a few 180 grain loads so far but she groups them all under 1.5", I can get it on target like lightning, and its got to be one of the smoothest bolt actions I've ever owned. The recoil isn't even too bad considering.

Some of those older gals can take your breath away. Probably end up as a life long affair. Awesome find !

Those are a very well built rifle, congrats!
Husky generally used a 1-12 inch twist in their 30-06 barrels and they work well for 180 grain bullets but not so good for heavier bullets. Fortunately most people don't go heavier than 180 grains in the 30-06 anyway.

I've been shooting it with a heavy denim jacket on and its not too bad, I do get the impression that shooting in a T shirt would be a bit painful without the addition of a recoil pad.

Had the mate of it many years ago. Nice action and fairly accurate but it cracked at the wrist. This is quite common with the ultralights so make certain the bedding is sound and that the wood isn't thirsty.

I'm pretty sure I could get tighter groups with some experimentation. For its intended purpose however, its ability to put 180 grain Corelocts into 1.5 inch groups has me pretty happy. That's better than I can shoot freehand anyways.
