Default Cabela's Store?

Did anyone notice if the meat grinders were on sale due to the opening?

I'm going tomorrow and want to know how much cash I need in my Jeans!!!

Thanks!

Didn't notice if they were on sale, but they have a good selection of meat processing gear.

I would be interested too. I am tired of breaking the little dinky ones with partially frozen meat... damn plastic gears.

Just got back, didn't notice if they were on sale, but a word of advice....BRING CASH. Apparently, they weren't expecting the rush of people and their electronic debit/credit card system was overloaded. Really??? You weren't expecting a rush or people at the first Cabela's store in Alberta?? Someone wasn't doing their homework. Regardless, they could process the credit cards using a manual paper machine (some of the cashiers had never seen one before) but no debit cards.

Default Do not hurry to get there

No specials of any note. Too crowded not worth the rush. Same stuff will be there on Monday or in Septmber.

Positives in my perspective,

A great selection of meat processing items which I will purchase in September when I get more meat.

The staff had ten times the personality of anyone at wholesale sports and they went to great length's to help.

The Shotgun ammo was out in the aisle and in the reach of the customer no waiting for the gun counter guys to grab my order.

Selection of hunting items more than any store locally, by far.

Negatives,

Not much of an event for opening. Way to much hype for an anti climactic arrival. No opening sale hot items available which took the fun out of it for me. Prices today will be the same or more tomorrow, next week next month, etc.

Way to much testosterone and compensating going on in there today.

Catering was **** poor to say the least. Somebody made the mistake of mixing a fruity yogurt with the French onion dip for the veggies. It was supposed to be sour cream. Where was the meat??

Store layout kinda boring and animal mounts were nothing compared to Bass pro.

Fly fishing area....YAWN.

Location, store will not replace the wetland drained and great deer habitat axed down. Not Cabelas fault as the whole shopping complex sits atop that spot. Sadly however urban sprawl will eventually take over every hunting and fishing spot.

6 out of a possible 10 wows from this shopper.

I didn't have too much expectations so wasn't disappointed.

Overall just another store and the selection is ok. Staff was good but my most recent experiences with WSS was pretty good too. Competition is a good thing.

Clothes and camping wasn't any better than other stuff you can find in Edmonton. If I need backpacking equipment tents, stoves, sleeping bags, head lights, boots there are stores with much better selection in Edmonton.

What is nice though is shelves of ammo to just browse and pick.
Also, 9mm ammo for $14/50 you had to mail order in Edmonton so far.

The gun counter was way too crowded for my taste to check out what they 've got.

Overall a nice store with a lot of different things in one place.

No problem whn I paid with my credit card.

I don't know I went with a couple buddies the mounts are nice but not great (BPS is a way better looking store). There where no sales I found them quite expensive compared to other shops in the city like WSS and even P&D.

The staff didn't know much my friend asked one of the gun counter guys what they had in a 260 Remington and the staff member thought that it was model didn't even know that it was a caliber.

I will go there again with a clear head but it won't be until the hoopla is over.

I hope to head out there sometime in the next couple of days just to check it out. I don't have very high expectations, but they might have a couple items in stock that I couldn't find at WSS.

Is it still a 100 degrees outside where you are. How do pheasants live in climate like that?

Take care.

After being there today and seeing how crowed it was, I wouldn't want to be there tomorrow or even this week. Don't plan on getting many great deals, probably get better at huntfest

Maybe not Filet Mignon but a tube steak would have been nice or some jerky samples showing off their different spice selections. When you send me a VIP ticket I would hope to find an event with a little hype and polish not just another day in an overly crowded store.

If no meat, how about some blow out sale items at least. I did not see one sales tag.

Give those people a reason to be their on that day. Some folks came a long way for the opening and did not get their dollars worth.

At least with the Bass Pro opening it was a spectacle because of the design and layout.

With that said there were still many positives as listed before.

I guess the thousands of ''VIPS'' aren't as VIP as they think they are ?
What exactly constitutes a VIP
