Default Couple of pics from Texas

Just got back from Texas with work... Got to fire some cool pistols and an UZI!! Got a back seat ride in one of our CF-18s, the brand new F-35 (still in testing) taxied right in front of us.

did you have anything to do with that tv show they shot up there? hey just how hard is it to hit that little birdy of a refueling basket?is it easier off the wing or off the back of the refueler

Jetstream was filmed at 410 SQN (aka The girls next door ) I didn't have anything to do with it but a couple of the pilots from the show are with our SQN now (409 TFS)

It's trickey to hit the basket.. as you get close the basket the air flow around the plane pushes it away. So you have to speed up a bit to catch it.

Let me get this straight. You flew to Texas in a fighter and then got to shoot an Uzi? But..............that's not fair! I feel more 'manly' just reading this thread, I can only imagine how you deal with it!

Seriously, nic pics (once again) and keep 'em coming. Did you know that Lethal is also a fighter pilot?

Nice pics Silverado7......................I used to be at 435 (T) Sqn Winnipeg flying one of those C-130 tankers that were passin' you gas. Best job I ever had (flying gas station). Experience joining up and making Contact (contacting probe with the drogue) helps a lot.............you can chase that drogue (basket) around and never hit it....rim shots (not good lol) make the drogue circle around. Back off and let it stabilize and re-attempt to make Contact is the way to do it....but some are quite content to try and chase the drogue lol. Mud Slug....None of our refuellers have a boom (refueling from the tail).............The C-130's have two hoses...one from each wing......two jets can refuel simultaneously......................it's cooooooooooooool being tight with a bunch of fighters.

Default never mind the elephant Tree

I wanna know how much one of them thar F-35 thingys cost. I'd like to get one of those. Can you lease them? As long as the monthly payments are under 400 bucks or so I think I'll pick one up. I've got an F-350, but I think I'd rather drop the zero and get the F-35. Should be about one tenth the cost, right??

Seriously, thanks for the pics Silverado. Awesome. Must have been quite a rush.

Rug
stole from the washington post

'The F-35 cost $45 billion to develop _ a figure that is up 84 percent from 1990s estimates. Problems with weight and other factors helped drive up the price.'

so close to $100 Milloin each... Canada does have some serios cash invested in this jet. It's supposed to replace the CF-18
