Question Relite wall tent material

With the Canadian $ doing well I am thinking of buying a wall tent from Cabelas made of relite. Does anyone have any experience with this material? A 12'X15' tent is around $850 (internal frame ~$500). Please provide any opinions you may have. The tent won't get used a lot but I want one that will last. Thanks!

hey rob, this stuff is ultra light but not so warm. most guys i have talked to use a tarp on top to try and keep tthe heat in. it also burns more easily than canvass. weight however is about 1/3 if i remember correctly.

Default relite tent material

also check with canada customs if it meets canadian standards if it does not it will not be allowed across the border and something this size will definitely be checked. Talking from experience as I lost a tent to them or the shipper. I dont know if he got it back or not

Yeah I second that- the tent needs to meet Canadian safety standards and this model may or may not be certified.

Default Canadian Standards

It must be fire proof or fire resistant treated. Any company in the US that routinly does business in Canada won't even ship a non treated tent. If they get caught they loose their export lisence and the profiton one tent just isn't worth it. I just (3 months ago) had one made and sent up from Colorado. Mine was canvas though. Does Realite breath? If it doesn't stay well and be gone away from it as the condensation will kill you. The human body gives off about two quarts of moisture over an eight hour night. You don't need rain in a hunting tent. Put 4 guys in a tent and you have 2 gallons of water vaour looking for a place to condense
