Default Money hook?

So I've decided that I've had enough success with it to declare the Rapela Clack 'n Rap my money hook. I can safely say I have never, EVER, been skunked on it (even when all my other hooks have let me down). Anyone else want to chime in on what they reach for in their tackle box when nothing else is working?

Firetiger or Perch is the best... although the blue/white works well too.

Money hook? Man, I don't even have a Monopoly money hook

One suggestion, when you describe your money hook, please let us know what species it works particularly well on and how fished. Wouldn't want to waste time on your sure-fire pike-getter in a trout pond!

Ha Ha thats funny....
I was out at Jackfish yesterday trying to keep out of the wind.

Almost got skunked until I found a quite bay and hooked up a
Fire Tiger Rattln Rap. ( Lipless) . I didnt even know it was called that until
I read the post and googled what it looked like. What are the chances...

Ya !!! it worked for me yesteday. I'm usually a spoon or spinner
kinda guy but I tried a few cranks and jerks without any luck until
I tried this one.

SO there you go...... I'm a believer.....

PS; 3 little pike was all I could get in 3 hours .......
but.... I got to smoke a little cigar and It was better
than being at work.

If I told you, I'd have to kill you......... It's a Rapala though, got 5 in the exact same color and size as backups, in case they stop making them like they so often do.

I will have to say the #1 Len Thompson five of Diamonds, has to be my go to lure for pike and walleye. They have let me down, I will admit (honestly has your "money lure", not ever let you down lol), but have had success more times that not, and have won numerous first, biggest, and most, contests because of this lure than any other. Another is a green twin tailed jig in the quarter ounce size, bounced slowly across the bottom, as slow as possable.

I only discovered my money hook at the beginning of last year and, truly, it has never been skunked (yet!). It will catch pike and walleye (and I assume perch if they were big enough to hit it). If you jig it ice fishing it will attract pike, whitefish, bourbot and walleye. I even ended up unintentionally snagging a bourbot in March.

The best/worst thing about it, however, is the "sure set" hook on the front treble hook. It lives up to its name, but can be problematic relasing fish (especially small pike) as it tends to get lodged deep in the mouth or even in the gills. Because of its unusual shape, it can be tricky to remove. Often times, in trying to release the fish, it will break off or have to be cut off. I find this decreases the number of hooksets, but not signifcantly. I've also found simply replacing the front treble solves the problem.

I find the best technique is trolling or casting and retrieving at a relatively fast speed. A speed increase will increase the effectiveness of the hook, regardless of the depth.

I used to have money hooks but diversifying has caught me far more fish that lucky hooks ever did. If I had to pick a money hook though it would be a white lead head jig, about the only thing I cant do with one of those is troll it up stream and thats probably only because I'm not trying hard enough. In the name of progress however I'm completely giving up jigs for this summer just because there are a number of other great ways to fish plastics and bait that I dont spend enough time doing, like I said diversifying is key.

Never tried the clackin' rap mostly because I'm too cheap to load my tackle box up with Rapala stuff. The little countdowns have worked well for trout though.

Personally, until this hook proves otherwise, I will always reach for it when things are slow. Yes YeeHaw, this one has never let me down, I **** you not.

The perch pattern one has never let me down. Great on walleye and small pike. I haven't found any bigger ones but I'm sure a 1oz sized one would catch some decent pike.
This winter my tip-up hit like crazy but things were generally slow in my hole in the tent. Got bored and started thrashing this perch spoon around off the bottom and got a bite in 5 minutes.

Crawdad Clack'n Rap works excellent to. I don't think there is a bad color in this series.

Default Money hook

I'd honestly have to say, it would have to be a simple #6 gamakatsu egg hook with the right bait on it. A 1/16 oz. bare jig head with live bait would be a close second.
