Catching Lakers is easy, Get over 90-120ft of water, on Cold Lake target the areas out from structure, points transitions etc. Pick a number between 60 and 100 to set your rigger at, deploy approx 10-15 feet of heavy line with your favorite spoon ( they seem to like silver), then attach your rigger with a 5-10lb cannon ball and run your line down to your lucky number between 60 + 100. If you have decent electronics look for baitfish clouds, where they are, the Lakers are. Vary your trolling speeds and depths till you get them. It can be a grind some days but you will always catch a few.

Good luck

Gang troll with a herring. Structure is key , but I like to keep my lures close to bottom , while marking fish on bottom. Picking a random place in the water collumn can make for a long day. You can also jig for them if you're marking fish.

Ask at the marina for directions to the Flemish cap, was still hitting them out there on a herring rig, C/R 13 in the last few days, biggest around 15 lbs

was there for 3 days last week. we got fish down at 80ft near murray island and about 5 or 6 literally in the middle of the lake right on the surface. we 150ft of mono out with a lite FST spoon and no weight. it was weird.
basically, they are everywhere. make sure your motor trolls good because its the only real weapon you need. any spoon or herring rig is fine. easy and fun fishing.

Went to cold lake two nights ago and got about fifteen minutes of fishing in before the weather chased us off. Caught one laker seconds after my spoon hit the water in about fifty feet of water but my hook was maybe five feet down (63 cm too small). We missed two hits about ten feet down on the down rigger. We couldn't even set up without getting bites. Between the two down riggers and bites we maybe trolled for a minute.
