Just found out yesterday wife booked a few stalls for a week in Boultan creek campground in Aug. With out me knowing ! Great ! I wanted a Cold lake trip !
We live in Edmonton. So whats down there guys ? I have a 19 foot Baylinner boat. Should I leave it at home . Kananskis lake have a cement boat launch, does it allow power boat? How big and deep is it?
Any info appreciated .

I fish upper a fair amount, Yes it is a cement launch but even tho the parking lot says boat trailer parking only the visitors fill it up and sometimes it is hard to find a place to park close to the launch.
It is not a big lake but deep over 100FOW in spots. Large bull trout not the easiest lake to fish but one of the most picturesque.
You can get over to Spray from Boulton but it is a trip on gravel so if you do go make sure you have a good gravel guard for your boat.
Sorry about cold lake.

No walking across it and does not affect fish.

Good to hear,so I guess its worth hauling a boat up there, behind truck and camper. How are the roads, are there any major hills that my truck has to climb and over heat on its way to the campgrounds

There are parts on both lakes that are well over 100' deep...downriggers will come in handy if trolling is your thing, or you could anchor and jig off the boat.

the deepest that I have sounded on the upper was 360 feet in the fall time,as for the lower lake , the larger bull trout are mostly up the smith-Doreen creek after august 1 getting ready to run up and spawn . the upper is good at this time of year, try by the water fall or any of the other small creeks , the far end of the island can be amazing .good luck hope to see you out there.

Some good tips you gave me thanks. Never fished for Bull trout. Only for lakers The same hooks should work on them on my down rigger. Are you even allowed to keep bull trout from the lake or creeks .How big are they ?
Heard the road is paved all the way ,but are there any hills I need to worry about.
As my truck like to run hot on them.

No keeping any bull trout in Alberta.
We caught a bull trout trolling a flatfish in Upper, also I believe Upper has cuts that you could cast for if flyfishing is your thing. When we were there last year, they were jumping near the rock wall.
