Default Herters Ammo

Did some testing

Naturally, I used 30-06. Two different rifles. A Tikka T3 and a Sako A7

100 yd groups were 1/4" for two shots with the Tikka.

1/2" was the best I could do with my Sako

200yds. Just under 1" for the Sako. About an inch for the Tikka

300 yds. Tikka was solid 3" all day long

Me and my Sako sucked.

Took middle son out on a bear hunt. He was using Herters 180g soft point Herters ammo in 30-06. We shot a 6'6 black bear at 45 yds. Shot front on, broke the breastbone and lodged in its rear ham. Stone dead.

We retrieved the bullet. Pretty decent mushroom. Its sitting in bleach and water and Im gonna weigh it

Over all, pretty good for $22.99 a box

I did pound some 300 win mag Herters but my Parker Hale is open sight but i was "minute of bear heart" anyhow. It grouped well enough for my iron sights. About 2" was my best with an average of maybe 2.5"......$29.99 a box

My youngest tried the 30-30 Herters in his Marlin but he was shooting his lever like he was in Viet Nam so id hardly comment on his groups.......
