Default Thieves at it Again!

We we got his this morning! 8:20 am! Wife and I leave for work @ 7:30
Son calls me at 8:45 as me if I took his truck to work. I said no,It was there when i left for work,
Neighbour said she heard his truck start at 8:15 and seen someone in the truck.
Thought it was my son getting ready to leave for school, but it wasn't him

Anyways they got his truck that he had just put his new fuel rims and a new set of 18 duratracs on not to mention a 2" lift and new mbpr exhaust on. Turned the old mans truck into his prize possession
Gone in a flash. Kids pretty torn up but has theft so now to wait and see if they'll find it
It was a 2008 gmc sierra 1500 sle crew cab 4x4 pewter in color

That's awful. It's too bad that we have people walking around like that.

Should put up a picture and license plate number, if possible.

That really sucks to hear.. SCUMBAGS!!

Hopefully he gets it back in one piece and considers an alarm system with starter kill. Cheap piece of mind.

Good luck!

That's awful. But as was predicted, with CERB done and the new CRB not properly on line yet, property crime has gone way up. Not that there is any connection, I'm sure....

I just went out to my vehicle and there were fresh tracks around it in the snow. There are a lot of scum bags in the world!!! It be nice to hook 220v. Up to the doors of houses, garages, and vehicles then there’d be a lot less scum bags.

If something was taken right after purchase, I’d instantly suspect a connection to the shop that sold the products or did the installs.

Agree, especially if the work was done close to where you live. Hopefully it's found soon in good shape...!!

+1. Especially with that timing, the guys were waiting. Not an expert but seems like they targeted that truck specifically. Wouldn't be hard for someone to get a key copied while OP was waiting for the callback.

Curious to see how this plays out. One may never know but I’d be curious to see if it was connected to the place that did the mods. I wouldn’t have thought of that really but these days who knows anymore.

No way to know. Just one possibility.

However the shop guys are already networked to potential resellers. Steal back something new and it could maybe be resold somewhere else as new product.

Yeah the timing of everything is suspicious. Happening right after he puts on all that stuff, and for someone to be stealing a truck at 8:15 AM (broad daylight this time of year when lots of folks are up leaving for work) when the person who drives it leaves at 8:45 is pretty crazy. They knew your guys' schedule at minimum I'd say and I certainly wouldn't rule out whoever put the wheels and tires on (maybe not the shop, but a sketchy employee working there).

If not a worker tied in with someone who can resell stuff then maybe a buddy of a worker.

Same as when your credit card gets scammed at a restaurant or store. Stuff probably gets passed on to some of our unemployable citizens.

Default Truck

HI
Just to clarify tires and rims/leveling kit were purchased from to different places and installed about a month ago
It was installed at a local dealership and I truly dont believe it was any of his workers

The thieves got 2 vehicles on the same morning, my sons and another gm
They hit our work place a week ago at 6:45 am and tried stealing 6 other trucks that morning before getting a Ford diesel

Any thoughts to how they got it started? Might be time for me to install power cut offs in all of my vehicles.

They pop the hood and change out the ECM. VATS is disabled ( vehicle antitheft system), pound out the ignition.. truck is gone in a few minutes.
