Default Pigeon Lake Ice Conditions

I made a trip out to Mulhurst to check it out. BBJ earlier report was bang on with about 90% covered in ice. It is starting to go though. Should be enough open water for the May long. The long term forecast is calling for temps of 25 to 26 both Fri and Sat. Here is to hoping!!

Here are pics taken from Mulhurst this morning:

The ice pushed up a bit of the launch.

Thanks for the update. Just got to get a warm windy day to start pushing the ice off. Hopefully i can catch some good spring walleye.

Default Buck lake and Battle lake

Has any one heard about the conditions in Battle Lake or Buck Lake at all??

Perhaps they can serve as backups if Pigeon is still a Cube

Those pictures were from 5 days ago. I think today the hot weather and the wind would have broken it up.

was just out there and the only ice I could see was piled up around the Ma-Me-O Beach side. The rest of the lake looked to be wide open

Depending on where you're going, you probably don't have far to go- at least you've got that going for you! All the best- have a great first trip of the year.

Actually, according to the REGS, Pigeon and all other lakes open on May 16 - which is in about 40 minutes. No need to wait for Saturday - I will be there in the morning!!

Its wicked for pike. especially if you fish from shore the very north shore near the boat launch and along the hwy is good but once the weeds get growing you need a boat , theres some big 20 plus pounders there.

Launch at the Provincial Park, and join the large group of boats about 80 yards from shore just north of the launch. Drop off from 4 ft. to 20 ft., and you can get into 50+ fish days per person pretty easy. Not sure about the spring time, though- they may not settle into that spot until a bit later, especially with the late ice-off this year. Have fun!
