Get out early, or stay out late is my advice.

These fella's are very active in the early a.m just before and shortly after sunrise, they also move into feed in shallow water at night.

A jig, spoon, plain hook baited with a smelt, large minnow or chunk of herring will do the trick bounced off the bottom...

Just about any lake that has them will offer them up to you.Not sure in the Calgary area, but near red deer Gull,Sylvan and pigeon can get pretty good for some good sizes.
